3D / 4D Ultrasound

We went to a 3D/4D ultrasound session today. This is way cool. But hey – let me start from the beginning. We arrived a little early but decided to go inside already. The business owner was very friendly and had us fill-out liability waiver and some other stuff, too. When we were done we had to pay the fees for the session. We decided on a 20 minute package which would include a DVD and some high resolution print outs. We had a coupon and were able to push the price for the package down to $175.00 – still a lot of money. The health insurances do not pay for this ‘luxury’ as this kind of ultrasound is not a medical necessity. Simone felt a little hesitating about spending the money but I convinced her to do it.

Once all the paperwork was taken care off the business owner brought us into a nice looking room with a couch and some sort of ultrasound bed. A projector was hooked up to the ultrasound machine and there were 2 other monitors and TV’s so that the session could be seen from anywhere in the room. The US session started. Our little baby boy seemed to be camera shy – he had his hand and feet high up covering his face. It was difficult to get a clear shot of his head. We were amazed how this 3D ultrasound works. Incredible pictures. All details of our little one’s face could be seen.

Our 20 minutes were almost up and we had not had a 100% clean shot of the baby’s face. The business owner stopped and provided Simone with some juice and chocolate. The sugar burst was supposed to make the baby move and he was right. We continued the session after 10 minutes and were lucky now. The little one was quite active. We got a total of about 35 minutes out the ultrasound session. After the ultrasound was done we waited in a different section of the office for our DVD and the prints. Overall – I think we got our money worth out of this thing. We watched the DVD with friends and everyone so far has been amazed of what technology can do nowadays. We are very happy we spend the money on this and can highly recommend it. This is the opportunity to see your baby before it is born.
