Waiting
Have you ever been to the doctor and had to wait? Waiting is bad. I had waiting. I especially hate waiting when having an appointment. I usually arrive 5-10 minutes early to avoid being late caused by traffic jams or other unexpected things. The OB my wife is going to is really good. However – the office staff does not seem to be of the same quality. They seem to be very unorganized and not able to schedule appointments properly. Every time we have an appointment we have to wait at least 30-40 minutes before finally getting called. I do think that this is very rude. We have to make arrangements to be away from work and time is costing us money. If we are able to be on time – the same thing should be true for a doctors appointment to start within 15 minutes around the scheduled time. We even switched to early morning appointments to avoid late afternoon delays. But how can a practice that opens at 7.00 AM already be 30 minutes behind schedule at 7.30 AM – on an ongoing base? I just don’t get it.

We decided to not switch doctors during pregnancy but to consider this right after having the baby around and things for my wife to come back to normal. I wonder if the doctor really knows what is going on in his practice?
Another experience we had with this office. We tried to schedule a 3D/4D ultrasound for the 28th week a while back. They were supposed to call us as soon as the ultrasound technician would be in and could verify the schedule. They never called us back and we made the 3D/4D ultrasound somewhere else. We had even called in again and inquired about the appointment but they failed to call us. As I am a business man myself I am often surprised that ‘experienced’ office staff (no matter where it is) has such a lack of basic economical skills. Put this kind of thing on a bigger scale and see $200.00 per incident walk out of the door …. scary.
