35 weeks ….
We reached the 35 week mark on Friday. Yeah.
We also had a doctor’s appointment the same day. Things are looking good. The baby is growing on good average-wise from visit to visit. However - overall the baby is lagging about 400 grams behind. Meaning - the baby’s weight is 400 grams short for the 35th week compared to other babies. As you might remember - we had mentioned the small baby issue earlier in this blog already. However - we are not as concerned anymore as we were at the very beginning when the practicioning nurse had scared us. Babies tend to grow much faster once they come out anyway and a small baby is easier to deliver, too. One of our neighbors had told us that her son was born with just 5 lbs and a few ounces and the little boy is doing just fine. And last but not least - we live in 6,000 ft. altitude (Colorado). High altitude babies tend to be a little smaller anyway compared to babies born at sea-level.
Accordingly - the doctor did not make a concerned impression when we there. He did another ultrasound to get the current measurements of our baby. The baby is currently in the heads down position which is good. Overall weight of the baby is 4 lbs and 4 oz. at the end of week 35. From this day on the bi-weekly doctor visits stop and turn into weekly visits. Another sign that we are getting closer to the due date.
