Baby Care Class
I had to work this weekend and we also had another baby class. The original class was scheduled for 2 weeks ago but got canceled due to the instructor being sick. We went today and the class was packed. 11 couples and one instructor were forced into a small room. We meet a couple from our Lamaze class again. She still did not look bigger from the last time we had seen them. It almost made the impression that they would have a small baby, too. We did not have much time to chat with them – so, we will not know.
The baby class itself was about how to take care of your newborn. While the class was good I was not too impressed as I had hoped for a little more detail in some areas and less “talk, talk”. No word was mentioned about how to give your little one a bath. Yes, everything you need to give him/her a bath was discussed in great detail but I think there could have been more information on the actual process and what kind of bath tub should be used. I was surprised about many of the other couples that attended. I do not like to judge people on the first view but there were some really strange acting couples. Weird.
For about 20 minutes a pediatrician joined the class to answer questions. This was great. It was almost like interviewing another doctor for our little one. The doc was funny and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed his question and answer session. It made Simone almost think about maybe choosing him as the pediatrician of choice. His practice would be close to my workplace and would make it easier to join Simone on doctor visits with our baby. I mentioned the extended drive, the possibility of traffic jams and rush hour due to the location as well as a delay in time if there would be an emergency.
